.SH DESCRIPTION
This program takes two
.BR mg (1)
database inverted files and stemmed
dictionaries, named "old" and "new" respectively, and creates
a merged stemmed dictionary and inverted file.
It is part of the
.BR mgmerge (1)
addition to the
.BR mg (1)
package.
The two compressed text files are
.IR "name" .old.text
and
.IR "name" .new.text.

If this environment variable exists, then its value is used as the
default directory where the

collection files are.  If this variable does not exist, then the
directory \*(lq\fB.\fP\*(rq is used by default.  The command line
option

overrides the directory in
.BR MGDATA .
